Trauma Therapy in Rapid City
Trauma doesn't always look like what you'd expect. Sometimes it shows up as anxiety that won't quiet down, a body that stays on alert, relationships that feel harder than they should, or a sense of being disconnected from yourself.
At Dharma Wellness Institute, we approach trauma with gentleness and respect for your pace. There is no rushing this work.
How We Work With Trauma
Nicole uses a somatic, body-centered approach to trauma therapy. This means we pay attention not just to what you think and feel, but to what your body is holding. Trauma lives in the nervous system, and healing often begins there.
Our approach draws on:
- Somatic awareness and body-based processing
- Mindfulness and nervous system regulation
- Guided imagery and visualization
- Attachment-informed therapy
- Breathwork and grounding practices
You Might Benefit From Trauma Therapy If
- You experienced a single traumatic event and haven't fully recovered
- You grew up in a chaotic, neglectful, or abusive environment
- You notice patterns of hypervigilance, numbness, or emotional flooding
- Your body holds tension, pain, or reactivity that doesn't have a clear physical cause
- Past experiences are affecting your current relationships or daily life
What to Expect
Sessions are 50-60 minutes. Nicole will never push you faster than your nervous system is ready to go. Early sessions focus on building safety and regulation skills. Deeper processing happens at your pace.
